11.3. Stone and reinforced stone constructions
GOST 9.602-2016 establishes general requirements for the protection against corrosion of the outer surface of underground (including underwater with penetration into the bottom) steel structures laid below the ground level or in a dike, made of carbon and low-alloy steels (hereinafter referred to as structures): pipelines, transporting natural gas (main and distribution gas pipelines), oil, oil products, and branches from them; reservoirs (including trench type); water pipelines; pipelines of thermal networks; piles, sheet piles, columns and other load-bearing steel underground structures.
This standard also establishes requirements for limiting leakage currents on sources of stray currents that affect the protection against corrosion of underground structures: electrified rail vehicles, direct current power transmission lines through the wire-to-ground system, industrial plants that consume direct electric current for technological purposes . This standard does not apply to the following structures: reinforced concrete and cast iron structures; on structures for special defense and space purposes, offshore and coastal structures, including pipelines; construction of nuclear, tidal, hydroelectric stations and dams; communications laid in buildings; metal sheathed cables; pipelines of heating networks with polyurethane foam thermal insulation and a pipe-shell made of rigid polyethylene ("pipe-in-pipe" design), having an operating system for operational remote control of the state of pipeline insulation.
