HELLING test panel NR-5 corresponds to reference block PSM-5 acc. to ASTM (TAM Panel 146040).

Rectangly-shaped stainless steel plate (4 x 6 inch) with a chromium stripe at one side and five crack centres sorted according to their size. The other side is sand-blasted (medium roughness).

Application

1.	Side with crack centres: Monitoring and control of testing process of penetrant testing using manually, semi- or fully automatically operating crack testing equipment. (Standard reference block for aerospace industry applications: Pratt & Whitney Aircraft TAM 146040)
2.	Sand-blasted side: Control of excess penetrant removal

Not suitable for comparative tests with different test systems.
